Poem ‘Calligraphy’ by Mark Anderson
Calligraphy (For Sachiyo)
Artists, so dedicated to their works,
In calligraphy to letters and words.
Beautiful handwriting behind it lurks
With pens and brushes for sky and the birds.
Different styles arrest the gaze, from Arabic
To Chinese, as a form of expression
Communicating gracefully, so quick
To move a tool, no sign of digression.
Sachiyo is a master of her art,
A king-sized brush can be her instrument
Which she will just sway and swing to the heart
Of fine technique, to where it should be sent.
Calligraphy can surprise and delight,
So calm, so heavenly, so sweet, so light.
